Ronan O'Gara with wife Jessica
Former Munster and Ireland rugby great Ronan O’Gara was honoured last night at a star-studded testimonial dinner.
The worlds of sport, politics and showbiz were represented at the bash in Cork city as the former out-half flew in from Paris, where is currently part of the coaching team at Racing Metro.
O’Gara – Munster and Ireland’s all-time top points scorer – was honoured by guests including Rugby Walsh Roy Keane, Ian Dempsey, Mario Rosenstock, Caroline Downey and former Munster and Ireland coach Declan Kidney.
They were joined by a host of current and former Ireland and Munster teammates of O’Gara, who was accompanied to the dinner by his wife Jessica.
‘Rog’, as he is known to pals, famously scored the winning drop goal for Ireland against Wales in 2009 to clinch the Grand Slam, the country’s first in 61 years.
Charities that benefitted from last night's black-tie event included Cork University Hospital and Crumlin Medical Research Foundation and a donation was also made to the Donal Walsh #Livelife Foundation.
